Vítězslava Kaprálová: April Preludes, Op.13 for piano solo
About
Female chamber musicians, orchestral players, and soloists are not a novelty in this day, yet it is still rare to see concerts featuring works composed by women. Opus Nova sees this as an opportunity to create a female-inspired program and bring these gems of the chamber music repertoire to you.
In this concert, you will hear works by Grammy-nominated composer Missy Mazzoli; Amy Beach, the first major female American composer; and two Czech composers who heavily influenced each other’s music and life (Bohuslav Martinu and Vitezslava Kapralova). The program ends with a charming Baroque aria by Barbara Strozzi, arranged for Opus Nova by Alyssa Weinberg.
