What is Opus Nova?
Opus Nova is a new concert series in Fort Worth, TX, founded by local clarinet pedagogue Dr. Ann Hung and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Principal Clarinet Stas Chernyshev.
What type of music does Opus Nova perform?
Chamber music from all different time periods, including today.
Who are the performers?
Both Opus Nova founders – Stas and Ann – perform in almost all the concerts, with some of their favorite musical colleagues from Texas and other states.
Where do you perform?
We offer two types of concerts: Salon Concerts & Casual Concerts.
Our Salon Concerts are presented in beautiful homes in the Fort Worth area.
Casual Concerts take place in everyday venues around Fort Worth, such as Avoca Coffee Roasters.
How long is a concert?
Typically our concerts are 1 hour and 30 minutes in length.
Concerts start at 7:30 PM; there is one hour of music with a twenty-minute intermission.
For Salon Concerts, there is a 45-minute pre-concert reception with complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, which includes a chance to mingle with the artists and others.
What is included with a ticket?
Salon Concerts offer intimate, elegant performances in beautiful homes throughout the Fort Worth area. Enjoy the pre-concert reception with complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. Share the moment with fellow music lovers and artists. Gratuitous valet parking is included.
Casual Concerts curate an experience of high-level classical music performances in everyday venues around Fort Worth. Come and enjoy the music in a laid-back environment. BYOB!
What are the benefits of purchasing a Season Pass?
- Discounted ticket price
You receive a total of $25 off for Salon Concerts and $20 off for Casual Concerts.
- Guaranteed Seating
Due to limited availability of some Salon and Casual concerts, the Season Pass include guaranteed seating to all of the concerts before the single tickets go on sale!
- Receive a Gift
You will receive an Opus Nova CD filled with season highlights at the end of the season.
How much are tickets?
- Season Passes:
Salon Concerts are $250 for 5 concerts; Casual Concerts are $80 for 4 concerts, $30 for students for 4 concerts.
- Single Tickets:
Salon Concerts are $55 per ticket; Casual Concert are $25 for adults, $10 for students.
What form of payment do you accept? Is cash or check at the door OK?
Online Payment is preferred. You can purchase the tickets through our website.
For Salon Concerts, we do not accept cash or check at the door. To guarantee the best musical experience possible and make sure the house is not over crowded, limited tickets are sold through our website in advance. Moreover, to respect our host’s privacy, we do not disclose the location unless the ticket is purchased.
For Casual Concerts, we accept cash at the door if seats are available. For guaranteed seating, please purchase the tickets in advance through our website.
How many tickets are sold for each concert?
Salon Concerts - 40-50 tickets for each concert, depending on the size of the house.
Casual Concerts - 50 tickets.
How many concerts are in the 2019-2020 season?
5 Salon Concerts & 4 Casual Concerts. We also have a guest concert at Apex League Chamber Music Series on December 8th, 2019.
When do doors open before the concert?
Salon Concerts open at 6:45pm; Casual Concerts open at 7pm. Concert starts at 7:30 pm for both types.
Who goes to your concerts?
Music lovers from the DFW metroplex! Come to our concerts to make friends who share the same interest, or bring your friends and have a memorable night together.
Is there an age limit or minimum for the concert attendees?
No, there is no age limit or minimum for the concert attendees. In fact, we offer $10 student tickets for our Casual Concerts with the goal of attracting a young audience. It is a great learning experience for students to see professional musicians in action!
Do I need to have any musical knowledge going in?
No, not at all! Just come and enjoy some incredible music and a few surprises with a friendly crowd. We do provide short descriptions of the pieces on the program for your consideration. What’s the dress code?
There is no dress code for either concert, but for Salon Concerts, people tend to wear business casual; Casual Concerts allow for more relaxed dress.
What’s the parking situation?
For Salon Concerts, we offer complimentary valet parking; for Casual Concerts, there is free street parking around the venues.
Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
Please purchase tickets ahead of time through our website to ensure guaranteed seating.
What if I can’t make it to the concert? Is the ticket refundable?
The tickets are transferrable but not refundable. If you can’t make it to the concert, the ticket is transferrable to your friend or family.
What if I forget to bring my ticket?
There is no need to bring your ticket, as long as you can provide the names of those who purchased the tickets. We will have the guest list ready to check you in!
